Pain or Pleasure

Posted on 04 September 2010 by Marko_Galac

It is perfectly understandable that people with a competitive spirit want to create new records, break old ones, create records that would be unbeatable for a long time to come. However, there has to some limit at which it stops being considered healthy and competitive, and goes into the realm of mania and madness Take this case for example. This young guy here has decided to pierce his body with 1091 needles to create a new record? How weird is that? Can you imagine the pain he must have gone through to get that many needles pierced in his skin? Can you imagine how horridly uncomfortable his life is going to become with that many needles sticking out of his body? Can he even wear thick warm clothes in the winter anymore without worrying about snagging a needle and causing unbearable pain? One can only wonder at what kind of incentive he has to pull a stunt like this one.

Ancient Indian Tradition: Latest Fashion Trend in the West

Posted on 30 August 2010 by Marko_Galac

What has been an ancient Indian tradition is catching up in the West as a fashion trend. What we are talking about is Henna Tattoos. Henna tattoos are temporary tattoos that are created by using organic Henna. They have been used in India for centuries, mainly as part of bridal makeup. Typically, they are applied on the hands; back and front, as well on the feet; on the top. They have a fiery orange-ish red color that is very appealing. At first, the color may be a bit darker and slowly it fades away entirely within a matter of few weeks. These tattoos are typically applied on the day before the occasion and left to dry for a few hours. The best thing about them is that they are easy to apply and entirely painless. Many intricate designs are made possible using henna tattoos.

Thieves and Tattoos

Posted on 20 August 2010 by Marko_Galac

When you think about it, thieves and tattoos are easily combined, and as a matter of fact, they have been for centuries. Thieves in prison for a variety of crimes have traditionally used tattoos to show their criminal history, conviction rates, place in criminal hierarchy (which was quite rigid in the olden days), character, nationality, religion, sexual orientation and even erudition. Criminal courts even had a term for it- Criminal undershirt- and in fact, they used this it to determine what sentence to pass. Of course, criminal tattooing is no longer existent in exactly the same way it was in the past, but the pictures below show an interesting collection. It is important to remember that most of these tattoos were created in the jail itself with very crude instrument and using handy materials. Surely they would have caused excruciating pain, but worse was the fact the criminal could be punished with beatings, and even death, if his prison tattoos were discovered by authorities.

The Best of Thematic Tattoos

Posted on 10 August 2010 by Marko_Galac

If you are a fan of body ink and you like your tattoos with strong themes running through them, you will be hard pressed a pair of tattoos that match these two. Although, we can only see them from the side, one gets the impression that they are full torso tattoos, front, side and back. The two show contrasting themes- one shows fire, the other, water. However, there is one larger theme than runs through them and that is love. This is also evident in the way the picture is taken and the tattoos are allowed to mingle with and overlap each other. The tattoo with the theme of fire has fire and shooting stars, while the one depicting water has a plethora of water creatures. Of course, there is no denying the picture itself is extremely provocative, yet very tastefully done. Bravo!
